Counselling

Counselling is a special kind of conversation for helping people understand some of the difficult things that emerge in our lives.

As part of The Armidale School’s commitment to holistic wellbeing, there is a counselling service at TAS for students, staff and parents. For young people in particular, many things can be challenging: family breakdown, illness or death of someone close, the ending of a relationships, sexual issues, drugs and alcohol, exam stress, or uncertainty about life ahead.

It is about getting clarity, developing skills, solving problems or dealing with issues so that life can move forward again. Counsellors help people live well, function effectively, reach their potential or simply overcome obstacles that can hinder this.

Just as it is important to be physically healthy, mental health is critical to overall wellbeing. Negative experiences, depressive thoughts and anxiety must not be allowed to develop into damaging patterns that can affect young lives.

The school’s counselling service is available to staff and parents, in addition to students.  On campus hours are Tuesday and Thursday 8.30am – 5pm and Wednesday 8.30am to 12pm.
